Housecall and Salon Cat Grooming

Housecall and salon based specialist cat groomer based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. We offer both salon services where you come to our location in iCentre, MK16 9PY, Milton Keynes or a full housecall service where we visit you and your pet in the comfort of their own home. We cover a wide area for housecall visits including Bedford, Northampton and surrounding areas, Luton, Aylesbury and many others - send me a message to see if we cover your area.

Housecall and Salon Cat Grooming Services

Grooming your cat is essential for its' health and wellbeing. Regular grooming helps keep your cats' coat healthy and shiny, reduces matting and keeps skin and fur in tip top condition.

We offer you two services - either I come to you and your cat in the safety of your own home and as we only offer 1 to 1 grooming then your cat feels less stressed as they don't need to wait amongst other felines or you can visit us in our fully fitted out stationary salon. I cover a wide range of areas around Milton Keynes including Northampton, Luton, Dunstable, Bedford and Aylesbury.

Your Cat

With our first contact I will try and ascertain all the details about your cat, including medical issues, and what you require from their groom. On meeting your cat we will discuss their coat health and exactly what is required as well as their temperament.

We try to keep your cat's stress levels to a minimum during their groom so what we can sometimes do in regards to grooming is very dependent on what your cat will tolerate. Therefore, some grooms may be carried out over two sessions especially if we are dealing with an old cat or one that is heavily matted.

We will discuss all prices at this stage as we cannot assess your cat fully until this time. We also promote health and wellbeing of cats over aesthetics.

Our Housecall Service

Our housecall service means that we can help cats and their owners that have issues travelling. Some cats are happier in their own environment and we are happy for their owners to stay with them and even help hold. We usually request a quiet room where we can close all doors.

Our Salon Service

Our Salon service is based in the iCentre (Bucks Biz Interchange House), Howard Way, Milton Keynes, MK16 9PY. As not every cat is the same, some cats who may not like being groomed at home will find a salon service more comfortable. We are able to carry out wet baths (please note that your cat will be assessed for suitability for a bath at first) but please let us know that you would like one of these so that we allot the correct amount of time.

Our Full Cat Grooming Service..

Our full cat grooming service includes the following:

  • Claw Clipping (if required but we often clip claws for our own safety)
  • Deshedding full coat brush and comb out
  • Water free foam or spray bath (if required)
  • Dematting (might incur an extra fee depending on time and amount of matting)
  • Eyes and ears cleaned.

About Purrfectly Pawsitive

Hi, I'm Yvonne, a specialist cat groomer. I have studied at a couple of different cat grooming salons within the UK and also with a grooming school based in the US. I continuously work on my education and handling techniques. I am also training as a feline behaviourist with Compass (level 5 in applied feline behaviour).

I have for many years owned ragdoll cats and have always performed my own grooming and bathing on them in order to keep their fur silky, soft and knot free. Before that I had a cat with heavy skin allergies who required bathing every few days - I really learned to bathe cats from the deep end. The photo opposite is of my ragdoll, Callie (Calisto Ladydoll).

Do Cats Hate being Bathed?

Actually no. Some cats really enjoy the bathing process and find it super relaxing whilst others mildly tolerate it. We usually find that most cats don't mind being bathed but again it is up to the individual cat and we will always make sure that we are not performing a service that a cat cannot handle.

Don't cats groom themselves?

This is a bit of a myth. Whilst cats lick themselves their tongues usually cannot get right through their coat and they cannot remove mats. Saliva is also not a special shampoo and your cats coat will still be dirty and greasy after they lick themselves

Why is cat grooming more expensive than for dogs?

Unlike dogs, cats will do what they like and when they like and they don't always sit patiently to be groomed. I have been trained to handle cats as cats can bite, scratch, try to escape from the bath or table and jump around. Cat bites can also be very dangerous and can easily become infected. This means that grooming cats can be a riskier business than grooming dogs - even with the relevant training

How Long Does a Cat Groom Take?

The time a cat groom takes varies based on what is required and the temperament of your cat. We usually try not to exceed 90 minutes to two hours as your cat will be starting to get fed up with the groom by this point. Heavily matted cats can also take longer.

How Often should my cat be professionally groomed?

When we assess your cat before the groom we will have an idea of how often your cat should be professionally groomed in order to maintain their coat in tip top shape. This can range from every four to twelve weeks on average so we will discuss the best timescales for your cat.
